Operation Instruction of Silicone Mold for Roman Column by Brushing Way

Prepare the necessary tools, such as rulers, knives, brushes, paperboard, etc.Polish the original mold. Fix the mold on the

wood board with glue.According to the size and shape of the mold, we divide it into two or multi-piece. It will be easy for

demolding. The mold line should be positioned on the high point of the mold. Here we use the paperboard to divide the

mold and hot melt adhesive to fix it.

 

Put down the mold along with the wood board. Measure it with a ruler and make sure it is vertical to the ground.Pile up the

clay under the mold line. The clay can not be too hard. Smooth the surface of the clay with moistened fingers and tools,

make sure it is no gaps between the mold and the clay.

 

After fixing the clay, make latches which can avoid the dislocation between two pieces of silicone rubber mold. The latch

should be about 2cm away from the mold.Brush a layer release agent evenly(such as detergent, soapy water and Vaseline)

 

Choose the type of silicone rubber according to the product’s structure, pattern and application. Here we use HY-625 silicone

rubber, adding 2%-5% curing agent into the silicone rubber, after curing agent and silicone rubber stir evenly

 

Vacuum to -0.1MP, which presents the mold made out of bubbles and affect the quality of the mold. If no vacuumizer, you can

reduce the proportion of the curing agent which can extend the curing time and release the bubbles by itself.

 

After vacuum-pumping, brush the first layer of silicone rubber evenly on the mold. When it is sticky, brush the overmuch

silicone rubber of the lower point to the higher point.

 

Brush the second layer of silicone rubber till the first layer is cured(about 30 minutes). The proportion of curing agent in second

layer can be higher than the first layer. After brushing the third layer of silicone rubber, cover the gauze(increase the tension of

the mold) when the silicone stop flowing. Then brush the fourth layer of silicone rubber evenly.

 

Make the resin outer mold after the silicone rubber mold is cured. Proportions of resin and talcum powder in accordance with 1:2

(1kg resin and 2kg talcum powder), when stirred it into sticky, brush the first layer evenly. Brush a layer of resin, then cover a layer

of fiberglass. When brush the second layer of resin, the fluidity can be bigger than before, repeated this steps about four times

 

Remove the paperboard after the resin to be cured. Trim edges of the resin mold, clean up the clay on the other side, repeat steps as

above to make the second, third and fourth sides(include the silicone mold and resin outer mold)

 

Make the underside silicone mold. Here we use HY-625 silicone rubber, adding 2%-5% curing agent into the silicone rubber, stir it

evenly. Then vacuum to -0.1MP and pour it into the mold.

 

Separate the mold: use grinding machine to trim the outer resin mold. Then dig holes by machine on the mold of the linking part for

fastening the molds by the screw. Make marks on the silicone mold and outer mold, then take it out.

 

Check the silicone mold, and trim it with scissors. Fix all sides of silicone mold sand outer molds with screws according to the marks.

The mold of plaster molds is finished. We suggest to put the silicone mold into production after 24 hours.
