Difference between gel seal and gasket seal HEPA filters. Hong Ye HY-9400 has become a benchmark grade for replaceable HEPA filters where the gel channel must reseal after every filter change. Gel seals maintain leak-tight performance across 50 or more filter change cycles, while foam gaskets typically take a compression set after 3 to 5 cycles. As a two-component addition-cure platinum jelly gel mixed 1:1 by weight, HY-9400 offers a viscosity of 1200+/-300 mPa.s, 20 to 40 minute operation time and 4 to 6 hour room temperature cure. It self-levels after pouring without vacuum degassing, and cures into a permanently soft, tacky, jelly-like mass that remains serviceable across a temperature range of -60 to 200 degrees Celsius. The cured gel resists ozone, UV, moisture, salt spray and common cleanroom disinfectants, with linear shrinkage below 0.1 percent and dielectric strength above 20 kV/mm.

To obtain consistent results, engineers should observe four operating rules. First, always stir component B thoroughly for at least two minutes before dispensing, because the color paste and platinum catalyst tend to settle during storage. Second, weigh A and B accurately at 1:1 by weight using a calibrated digital scale; off-ratio mixing causes soft or sticky spots. Third, use clean polyethylene, nylon or nitrile gloves and dedicated tools; natural rubber latex, sulfur-cured rubber, amines, phosphorus compounds and tin-cured silicone will inhibit the platinum catalyst. Fourth, pour at 18 to 35 degrees Celsius and allow 4 to 6 hours before putting the assembly into service; for mass production, 60 to 80 degree heat curing can shorten the cycle to 30 to 60 minutes.

 

Typical downstream customers include cleanroom engineering contractors, HEPA filter manufacturers, biosafety cabinet makers, smart meter and sensor OEMs, automotive electronics suppliers, and intimate apparel or medical gel pad brands. Each batch of HY-9400 is released with a Certificate of Analysis covering viscosity, penetration, cure time, color and tack, and supporting documentation includes RoHS 2.0, REACH SVHC and, on request, FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and LFGB reports. Shelf life is 12 months when sealed and stored below 25 degrees Celsius.
