Detailed Application Scenarios
Cosmetic Industry Application
HY-902 high wear pad printing silicone is widely used in the cosmetic industry, mainly for logo and pattern printing on perfume bottles, lotion bottles, serum bottles, lipstick tubes, compact cases and other products. Cosmetic packaging usually has diverse materials including glass, plastic and metal with irregular surface shapes. Traditional screen printing cannot cover these surfaces, while pad printing heads can perfectly conform to various curvatures and concave convex surfaces, transferring patterns clearly.
Pad heads made from HY-902 have excellent wear resistance. In high frequency printing environments on cosmetic production lines, pad head life can reach 80,000 to 120,000 cycles, greatly reducing downtime for pad replacement and improving production efficiency. Meanwhile, this model has good resilience with uniform ink transfer, producing clear logo edges and full colors, meeting the high appearance quality requirements of the cosmetic industry.
Electronic Industry Application
In the electronic product industry, HY-902 is used for character and logo printing on phone cases, remote controls, keypads, chargers, earphone housings and other products. Electronic products usually have small printing areas with fine patterns, requiring high dimensional stability and wear resistance from pad heads. With hardness 28A, HY-902 has good support, ensuring fine patterns are printed without deformation with sharp character edges.
Electronic product production lines are usually highly automated with fast printing speeds. The high wear 特性 of HY-902 ensures pad heads maintain stable performance during long time high speed operation, reducing printing defect rates caused by pad wear and lowering production costs.
Application and Operation Instructions
Step 1: Preparation
Prepare HY-902 Part A (silicone) and Part B (curing agent), digital scale, stirring rod, vacuum degassing machine, pad head mold, mold release agent, gloves and other tools. Ensure the mold is clean and dry, apply a thin uniform layer of mold release agent inside the mold and let it dry.
Step 2: Weighing and Mixing
Accurately weigh Part A and Part B by weight ratio 100:2. For example, take 100g Part A and add 2g Part B. Use a digital scale for precise weighing with error within ±0.1g. Inaccurate ratio will affect curing results and pad head performance.
Step 3: Stirring
Stir Part A and Part B thoroughly for 3-5 minutes. Scrape the bottom and side walls of the container to ensure uniform mixing without streaks. Stir gently to avoid introducing too many bubbles. The mixed silicone should have uniform color without obvious color difference.
Step 4: Vacuum Degassing
Place the mixed silicone in a vacuum degassing machine and degas for 5-8 minutes at -0.09MPa negative pressure until no more bubbles rise to the surface. Degassing is a critical step to ensure pad head quality. Insufficient degassing causes internal pores in pad heads, affecting printing results and service life.
Step 5: Mold Pouring
Slowly pour the degassed silicone into the prepared pad head mold. Pour from one side of the mold and let the silicone flow naturally to avoid creating new bubbles. Fill slightly above the mold level as silicone will shrink slightly during curing.
Step 6: Curing and Demolding
Cure at room temperature (25°C) for 2-4 hours. Once fully cured, demold carefully. Avoid excessive pulling that may cause deformation or tearing. It is recommended to let the demolded pad head rest for 24 hours before use to achieve optimal performance.

Precautions
It is recommended to wear nitrile gloves during operation to avoid direct skin contact with uncured silicone and curing agent. Avoid contact with substances containing tin, sulfur, amines and similar materials as these may inhibit silicone curing. Part A and Part B should be stirred separately before use. Weighing must be accurate as excessive ratio deviation affects curing results. Mixing must be uniform otherwise local incomplete curing may occur. Recommended curing temperature between 15-35°C, lower temperatures extend curing time. Maintain ventilation in the operating area and avoid inhaling volatile gases.
Storage
Store products in a cool and dry place at storage temperature 5-30°C, avoid direct sunlight and high temperature environments. Shelf life 12 months unopened, use as soon as possible after opening. Reseal immediately after each use to prevent curing agent from contacting moisture in air. Part B (curing agent) is moisture sensitive and must be stored sealed. Refrigerated storage can extend shelf life, but allow to return to room temperature before use.
FAQ
Q1: How many times can a pad head made from HY-902 be used?
A1: Under normal usage conditions, HY-902 pad head service life can reach 80,000 to 120,000 cycles. Actual life depends on printing material, ink type, printing speed and maintenance. Compared to standard models, service life is improved by over 50%.
Q2: What should I do when printing becomes unclear after using the pad head for a while?
A2: Ink residue and dust accumulate on the pad head surface over time. It is recommended to regularly wipe the pad head surface gently with a lint free cloth dampened with special cleaning agent to keep it clean. Also check the pad head for wear and aging. If cracks or deformation appear on the surface, replace with a new pad head promptly.
Q3: What causes the silicone not to cure after mixing?
A3: Common causes of incomplete curing include: insufficient Part B curing agent or uneven mixing; contact with curing inhibiting substances containing tin, sulfur, amines and similar materials; low ambient temperature (below 15°C); expired curing agent. It is recommended to check the ratio and mixing, ensure appropriate operating environment temperature, and use products within shelf life.
