Product Description
HY-916 is the softest grade in the Pad Printing Silicone series, specially formulated to solve complex curved surface printing challenges. With a hardness of only 14±2 Shore A, pad heads made from HY-916 conform tightly to all kinds of irregular curved surfaces, ensuring complete pattern transfer even on highly curved perfume bottle bodies and uneven resin craft figurines. The elongation at break reaches 570 percent, the highest among all four grades, combined with 25±2 kN/m tear strength for excellent durability and crack resistance under repeated compression.

This two component condensation cure silicone operates at room temperature without heating equipment. The viscosity of 36000±2000 mPa.s provides good flowability for easy pouring and mold filling. With no oil bleeding, no deformation and good resistance to ink solvents, HY-916 maintains stable performance throughout its service life. Manufactured under ISO 9001 certified quality management system, every batch undergoes comprehensive testing and comes with a COA report.

Core Features • Ultra soft hardness of 14±2 Shore A for tight conformity to curved surfaces • Highest elongation at 570 percent among all four grades • Excellent resilience, recovers shape instantly after repeated compression • Uniform ink pickup and clean release for sharp clear patterns • Tear strength of 25±2 kN/m for abrasion resistance and crack prevention • Two component room temperature curing, easy to operate without heating • Viscosity of 36000±2000 mPa.s, good flowability for easy pouring • No oil bleeding, no deformation, good resistance to ink solvents • ISO 9001 certified with COA report for every batch • Stable supply with monthly production capacity exceeding 100 tons

Detailed Application Scenarios

Scenario 1: Cosmetic Packaging Printing The cosmetic industry demands the softest pad printing heads for printing on perfume bottle bodies, cream jar caps, lipstick tubes and compact powder cases. These products feature curved surfaces and arcs where standard hardness pad heads fail to achieve full contact, causing blurred edges and missing ink. HY-916 ultra soft pad heads at 14A conform like a sponge to all curved surfaces, transferring fine patterns completely even on highly curved perfume bottles. The 570 percent elongation ensures rapid rebound after compression without leaving pressure marks. Many cosmetic packaging manufacturers have improved pattern clarity and yield rate after switching to HY-916.

Scenario 2: Crafts and Gifts Printing Crafts and gifts come in a wide variety of shapes including resin figurines, ceramic items, metal souvenirs and wooden gift boxes, all requiring logo or pattern printing on irregular surfaces. These products often have small batch sizes but complex shapes, demanding high adaptability from pad heads. HY-916 ultra soft pad heads adapt to unusual shapes, achieving uniform ink pickup and clear transfer on both uneven resin figurines and curved metal souvenirs. Good abrasion resistance means fewer pad head replacements during small batch multi variety production, reducing manufacturing costs. Custom hardness and color options are available for special craft printing requirements.

Application and Operation Instructions

Step 1: Prepare an electronic scale, stirring rod, vacuum degassing chamber (optional), pad head mold, nitrile gloves and mask. Ensure clean working environment at 20 to 30 degrees Celsius with humidity below 70 percent.

Step 2: Weigh Component A (base rubber) accurately according to required pad head size. Recommend a small trial batch first to confirm operation time and curing effect.

Step 3: Add Component B catalyst at a weight ratio of 100:2 to 100:3. More catalyst gives faster curing but shorter operation time. Use 100:2 in summer and 100:3 in winter.

Step 4: Stir slowly and uniformly along the container wall for 3 to 5 minutes, reaching the bottom and corners. Avoid excessive bubble generation.

Step 5: Degas in vacuum chamber for 3 to 5 minutes until no more bubbles rise. Without a chamber, let stand 10 to 15 minutes and pierce surface bubbles.

Step 6: Pour slowly into the prepared mold avoiding new bubbles. Cure at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours. Demold, trim flash, and rest 24 hours before use for best results.

Selection Guide

HY-901: General purpose economical grade at 30A, cost effective for flat and simple curved surface printing, ideal for beginners. HY-902: High abrasion grade at 30A with higher tensile and tear strength, suitable for high volume continuous production with longer pad head life. HY-912: Multi color universal grade at 30A with excellent ink transfer, suitable for multi color overprinting and fine pattern printing. HY-916: Ultra soft high resilience grade at 14A with the highest elongation at 570 percent, suitable for complex curved surfaces, cosmetic bottles, crafts and difficult to print products.

Recommended Application Most recommended for pattern transfer onto complex curved surfaces such as cosmetic bottle bodies, perfume caps and craft figurines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many times can a HY-916 pad head be used? A: Under normal conditions, HY-916 pad heads can print 50,000 to 100,000 times. Actual life depends on product shape, ink type, usage frequency and maintenance. Complex curved surface printing may have slightly shorter life.

Q: Will the 14A soft pad head deform easily? A: Although HY-916 has only 14A hardness, its 570 percent elongation provides excellent resilience. It recovers shape instantly after compression without permanent deformation. The ultra softness actually improves conformity to curved surfaces for better printing results.

Q: What causes incomplete curing? A: Common causes include inaccurate A to B ratio, uneven mixing, contact with cure inhibiting substances, low ambient temperature below 15 degrees Celsius, or expired Component B. Check ratio and mixing, ensure temperature above 20 degrees Celsius.
